Church communities all around the world are beginning to wrestle with how we could once again gather in time and space. Here in Colorado, we are all currently thinking about what that might look like as each county comes up with a plan for the summer months. Our own church community is committed to honoring the spirit of the law of the land and living in submission to the authorities established by man – primarily as an act of worship to God.

As much as I long for gathering our congregation in one place, I am reminded that we have been two congregations for several years. And if we include Compass Groups, we have really been gathering as 17 different congregations under the banner of HarvestD...

When you are faced with a need, a struggle or anything that you are going to present to God as a request, petition or supplication, what is your attitude? Does your prayer sound more like a complaint? An argument? Or does it sound like the whining of a child who wants to get their way?

First, let me say that the Father knows the maturity of each child and the situation in which we find ourselves. I don’t think He is offended when one who is immature or new in the faith whines about their difficult situation or circumstance. However, there is also within this a call to each of us to grow in our maturity – particularly in how we present our requests to God.

I have had many ask me, “When will we be gathering again as the church?”

The simple response is currently Pentecost Sunday, May 31st; but we have not stopped gathering as the church! Each of our ministries has continued, and many of them have increased their effectiveness in this season. I personally know that my meetings have become much more efficient, and I believe that this season has actually made our church more dynamic, flexible, and sensitive to those around us. HarvestDowntown continues to be the church, not in spite of the restrictions, but it some ways, because of them!
